Municipality of Velika Kladusa
By its geographical location, the Municipality of Velika Kladuša occupies the north-western part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and covers an area of 331.55 km2. The Municipality of Velika Kladuša is a constituent part of the Una-Sana Canton (USK), within which, except Velika Kladuša, there are cities Bihać and Cazin and municipalities Bužim, Bosanska Krupa, Bosanski Petrovac, Ključ and Sanski Most. Today, the municipality of Velika Kladuša has a population of 40,419 territorially organized in 49 settlements divided into 14 localities. Considering an area of 331.55 km2 and population density of 141.3 inhabitants/km2, the municipality is second largest rural area in the USK Canton. The moderate continental climate with a lot of moisture throughout the year favours the development of agriculture (cultivation of fruits, vegetables, cereals etc.) and farming. Particularly significant wealth of the Municipality are the numerous sources of drinking and thermal water, as well as its developed hydrographic network throughout the area, made up of numerous streams and rivers. The municipality is extremely rich in chestnut forests, which are unique and represent the largest chestnut area in the BiH.
